Four Seasons Residence | Bangalore

A private-lift residence in travertine, oak and bronze.

The apartment opens off a private lift lobby, which means the front door is a room in its own right rather than a threshold. We treated it as the set piece: travertine and book-matched marble in vertical bands, fluted bronze sconces, and a flock of cast bronze birds crossing the ceiling toward the hall beyond.

From there the plan unwinds calmly. The living and dining rooms take the daylight; the dry kitchen runs along the glazing with a Calacatta counter and a fluted oak island, so the person cooking gets the view rather than a wall. A wet kitchen sits behind it for the work that should not be on show.

The bedrooms are quieter again — pale oak joinery lit from within, textured plaster walls, and storage detailed down to the reading nook. Nothing shouts; the drama is spent entirely at the door.

The Door as a Room

A private lift lobby, treated as the set piece.

Calm After the Entrance

The foyer carries the whole apartment’s drama so the rooms behind it do not have to. Past the bronze and the marble, the palette drops to pale oak, plaster and stone, and stays there.

1. Living

Daylight and

the Long View

The living room takes the best of the glazing, with the balcony beyond it detailed as an outdoor room rather than a ledge.

2. Master

A Suite Detailed in Pale Oak

Lit oak joinery, textured plaster and soft layered lighting. Storage is built in until the walls read as panelling.

3. Kitchen

Dry Kitchen &

City View

A Calacatta counter runs the length of the glazing with a fluted oak island in front of it, so the city is what you look at while you cook. The wet kitchen sits behind.
